We want to welcome you to Team Given and hope that we give you the perfect way to enjoy a greater involvement in horse racing. From becoming a free member, visiting us at the training yard, joining us on course for a hospitality race day through to owning a share in one of our syndicate horses, there is a place for you in Team Given.
James, Ian and Richard have been involved in horse racing for the majority of their lives and wanted to share this passion with others by setting up a modern, innovative race club and syndicate unlike anything currently available in the UK.
We talked to owners, punters and researched other syndicates and race clubs to identify the best practice in the industry and how we could improve upon it. We want to make Team Given a true "lifestyle" business in which everyone who gets involved, at whatever level, can truly enjoy and obtain maximum reward and value from being a member.
We hope we give people who have a passion for horse racing an exclusive insight into the sport and a number of unique, exciting, affordable ways to get involved in horse racing and race horse ownership.
We look forward to welcoming you as a member of Team Given and recommend that you spend time looking around the website, following us on social media and click the button below to find out more.
If you want any information or have ideas for ways we can improve what we do, feel free to contact any of us on our emails below:

Ian’s long standing interest in horse racing was fuelled when, as a young boy, he watched his late Father’s valiant but fruitless attempts to win the “ITV 7” each Saturday in the 1970’s. This love of racing was further enhanced by a successful investment of sixpence on Well To Do in the 1972 Grand National at odds of 14/1.
A career in the City of London followed, when his love of horse racing took him to the larger Southern courses such as Sandown, Ascot and Newbury on a regular basis, although at this stage always as a spectator and never as an owner. As his career brought him back North in the 1990’s, however, he was introduced by a friend to fledgling trainer James Given and a racing friendship was formed which has lasted to this day.
Ian has owned horses with James in his own right, as a partner and as a Syndicate Member since the 1990s. He has long felt, however, that there is a gap in the market for a modern Club with fresh ideas about Member communication and involvement, and is looking forward to working with his fellow Directors in making Team Given a resounding success.
James is a vet who began his racing career as Assistant Trainer to Mark Johnston in 1995. After three years working under Mark, he won a scholarship to study training methods in Dubai. Finally setting up as a trainer in his own right in November 1998 from a yard based at Wolverhampton Racecourse. In April 1999 he moved to his current stables at Willoughton in Lincolnshire.
Over the years James has seen success with a number of listed and Group wins including the Group 2 Flying Childers won by Wunders Dream, the Cambridgeshire Handicap at Newmarket won by I Cried For You and the Ebor at York won by Hugs Dancer. He also trained Jessica’s Dream who became a dual Group 3 winner and the dam of Havana Gold, won the Chester Cup with Hugs Dancer and trained Summitville who placed in the Oaks and was 2nd in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket in 2005. More recently James has seen success with Trick or Treat winning five in a row in the 2006/2007 season before winning a Group 3 at Ascot. Lady Gloria was twice a Group 3 winner, Indian Days won the Group 2 Bosphorous Cup in Turkey, Dandino won the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket and was 2nd in the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood and in 2012 Jardanna finished 3rd in the Group 3 Cherry Hinton at Newmarket.
The success has continued over recent years with Artful Prince winning 5 from 6 handicap races in 2013, Royal Bajan winning three in a row in the same year and this continued into 2014 with strong Group runs and listed wins for the yard, including Odeon who finished 4th in the Group 2 Dante and 3rd in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur at York. Pastoral Girl also finished 2nd in the Princess Margaret Group 3 at Ascot that same year. Russian Punch also won the listed Radley Stakes at Newbury. Inyordreams, a daughter of Wunders Dream, won the Listed Boadicea Fillies Stakes to continue the black type of her mother. James is looking forward to training a daughter of Inyordreams to try to make three in a row of black type fillies from this family. Other successes recently include Sign Of The Kodiac winning the All Weather Championship Fast Track qualifier in Dundalk, Sands Chorus second in the Cambridgeshire and Tawny Port winning four races as a two year old.
James passion for racing and training horses is infectious and at the heart of why we know that Team Given members will love being involved in the club and syndicate.
